FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

question-markbullet "Why would I want to see a practitioner instead of a therapist?” As we become more spiritual, we understand better that treating a problem at the level of the problem sometimes prolongs or even worsens it. Once we commit to a spiritual path, we realize that in God lies every answer, often immediately. The spiritual solution is easy, fast and happens in ways our logical minds never could have imagined. A session with a practitioner invites God into what is going on in your life, and while the counseling is very beneficial, the ultimate answer is always in the prayer and trusting God.

bullet But couldn’t I at least find a practitioner with a MFCC or degree in Psychology? That would make me feel more comfortable". Agape Licensed Spiritual Practitioners are bound by their licensing not to use these titles along with their ALSP title. This is because we are lay members of the clergy first and foremost. If you truly believe in God and want to let God into every area of your life, finding a highly-regarded practitioner who has as much or more experience as the average therapist is a wonderful route to realizing God more fully in your life. Therapists are bound by their licensing not to resort to any religion, and I suspect some therapists may envy the openness I have in my practice in turning to God and inviting the Grace of God into every situation. I personally would not go to a therapist because of the limits of remaining strictly in the known as far as pathology, projected healing etc. I know no limits in God as far as healing, miracles and the mystical are concerned. Of course, therapy can be highly valuable in certain situations, as well.

bullet “What is a typical practitioner session with you like?”. I see clients mainly in my home in Westchester and on the phone. Each session is 60 minutes long. We begin in prayer, opening the time up to God’s guidance. The client also sets an intention for our time together. The majority of the session is spent in dialogue, which looks something like typical therapy. Once the client has a chance to outline the problem or situation, the spiritual solution is sought and discussed. We end in prayer, including everything that has been spoken of and knowing that this final trusting of God produces all manner of miracles and demonstrations. Occasionally, a client requests healing during which all or a portion of the session is spent being lead into meditative healing state. Homework is given or reading recommended assisting the client in grounding the spiritual principle and realization. After the session, I advise clients to maintain a reverential state of awareness and bask in the healing energy they are feeling.

bullet“What kind of clients do you see?”. A wide variety. A good portion of my clients are in the creative arts and business. I see people with mental or emotional problems, with depression, physical ailments, work challenges, couples with challenges in the relationship, many people in small or large crisis, individuals looking to deepen their spiritual practice, change directions in life or expanding the good they are experiencing. Almost everyone leaves feeling much better about their life, with a renewed sense of direction and with much better trust in God and the order of the Universe.

bullet “How much do you charge, and how often do you recommend people seeing you?”. Each session is $85. Most people going through major challenges see me once a week or every other week. Occasionally, someone will se me every other day or three times a week, when they are really experiencing a period we call a “Dark Night of the Soul”. Often this is their breakthrough, and I gladly serve as a spiritual midwife through these times. Others pop in for a spiritual “tune up” when needed. I work with people energetically between sessions. Once I have seen a client, (s) he is in my heart and awareness, and I pray for him or her often. I will feel him or her sometimes, and so the work is not limited to our sessions together.

bulletWhat are your spiritual beliefs?”. That there is only one God, whom we call many names and some call it the Universe. I believe that most religions worship this same God, and are based on the same universal spiritual principles. This God is not separate from us, but is within us, connecting us to everything and everyone. I believe that in God, there are no limits, that there is infinite possibility, and that as we turn to God with our problems, God turns to us. Miracles and grace are a natural product of this relationship and show up to make everything work out, and usually better than we could have imagined. I believe that as we learn to live and see spiritually, our entire world shifts into one where we experience our Oneness in God, seeing love all around and experiencing no more limits in what we can do or be. I also believe that our highest charge is to be ourselves-unique, fully self-expressed, creative and prosperous and not try to fit ourselves into any mold. We are rewarded as we awaken to true selves.

bullet “How do you deal with emotional or physical problems?". People cry a lot around me at first. I think it’s because they feel safe, and if they have a large pain body that has never been dealt with, it must be released, which happens with tears and sadness. It’s best to get to this pain because whatever they’ve been doing toanesthetize them from it, be alcohol or some other crowunhealthy behavior, can’t be good. Once we start dissolving the pain body, we turn to disidentifying with pain (people get hooked on it and on drama to feel alive) and seeing spiritually, which tends to finish the healing process. I believe that the physical is not separate from our spiritual or emotional bodies and that many physical problems have their roots in other areas. In any case God knows no limits in healing, and we trust God to work in ANY situation. I work with people who experience chronic pain, and I am especially happy with the results we get together.
